There are 3 modes: locked, adjustment and removal. The patent-pending design is easy to use:

- From locked mode, simply press a lever to enter adjustment mode.

- In adjustment mode, the bracket can be rotated in any direction, but cannot be removed, ensuring the rod holder is completely secure when making adjustments, even if a fish hits. Release the lever and you are back in the locked position.

- To go to removal mode, unfold the lever, and the system will slide easily off the rail mount.
