Kayak fishing started 2017 with a farewell gift to a much appreciated employee. We went fishing for zander on Lake Storsjön in Sandviken guided by the eminent Mikael Puhakka and sponsored loan kayaks from the ever so generous Roger Jansson with whom we collaborated in one of our IT projects.
The trip lit the fire that had been on the back burner for a long time. Previous fishing interest had cooled due to poor fishing in the archipelago and toddler life and career. Memories from the days of my youth when I often fished were brought back to life: When we jumped on a swing fly and fished for borers in a Finnish river, the trips every summer to Rapala's factory for replenishment of lures, all the fantastic experiences, adventures and peace of mind I experienced when I fished.
In 2019 I bought my first kayak and shortly afterwards I entered my first competition where I managed to lose, what I think was a 10kg fish when hauling (noob). It still haunts me, the adrenaline rush, the adventure, the challenge of cracking the fishing code, the freedom and flexibility had me hooked. Meeting like-minded lovely fishermen during competitions as well as spontaneous meetings has been so educational and rewarding.
Nowadays I enjoy fishing in my Native Titan 12 which has allowed me to develop my fishing from a kayak. I have a preference for Rapala and Wipp, which delivered my Pb:n. The focus right now is perch fishing where the goal in the future is to take one over 2 kg. Driven by testing new techniques and waters that challenge my senses to the limit, preferably in the company of other kayak anglers.
