I tried fishing from a fishing kayak for the first time in 2016 and at that time I had paddled a lot of sea kayaks before. I had also fished a bit from a sea kayak, but to now be able to bring so much stuff and also have it easily accessible was fantastic. The mobility and that I could also stand up and fish without the slightest worry of tipping over made me decide to buy my own fishing kayak. The choice fell on Slayer 13 which was purchased in 2017 and I have been paddling it ever since. I have always been fishing and my first fishing years as a really small one, perch fishing and pike trolling with my old man was what kicked it all off. At the age of 6 I pulled my first kilo perch. It became a big sensation in the family and for a few hours, fishing-interested relatives came home and watched it swim in the bathtub. I remember that it was so long that it needed help to turn over the short end of the tub. When the perch had a few minutes in the limelight, my father took me to the Sportfishermen's office in Sjölyckan where the perch was weighed at 1.1 kg. The year was 1995 and the guys at the weigh-in told me that I would never catch a perch that big again. Which stuck and may have become a bit of a future trigger for me. At the age of 12 I started fly fishing and pretty soon the trout was a favorite fish. For fifteen, well almost 20 years, it was fly fishing and sea fishing that applied with some elements of perch fishing. Trout and sea trout in the main were mixed with mountain yellows, large sea eels, and shiners. In connection with a move to Karlskrona, I discovered Blekinge archipelago's fine perch and then the craving for perch woke up again, in just a few weeks of fishing I had caught more kilofish than I had caught during my entire previous fishing career (had caught 13 in the home lake and Gothenburg canals before moving with a peak of 1.6kg). Pretty soon after the move I took new perch-pb and then came the first 2:an of 50cm. I'll never forget that fight, I was absolutely sure that I had the bottom catch first! The feeling kicked off the long addictive hunt for fighting big perch. Now five years later, I have caught more bass than I ever dreamed of with a peak of 3020g. Of course, none of them have been as strong as I remember the first one being.
